Sydney Canberra Camp – Year 6
At Palmview each year our Year 6 students participate in a major five day and four-night camp. The Year 6 Sydney Canberra Camp is held in Term 3 each year.
Students fly to Sydney, visit Taronga Zoo and other iconic Sydney landmarks and then travel by coach to Canberra to visit places such as The Senate, The House of Representatives, The War Memorial, The High Court, Australian Institute of Sport and Questacon Science Centre. (Please note the itinerary may change slightly each year) A visit to the snow fields to experience the snow is also planned. Finally, students travel back to Sydney by coach and fly home.
The cost of this trip is approximately $1400. The final price will include all flights and coach travel, most meals, all entrance fees, hire of snow gear, all accommodation and travel insurance. In addition to this, students are permitted to bring up to $50 spending money (students are responsible for their own spending money).
Organisation for the Year 6 Sydney Canberra camp will begin in the year before the students attend. Deposit payments are required to confirm student places on the camp. Where possible the school will add additional vacant spaces to allow for growth in our Year 6 classes. When all spaces are confirmed with deposits paid a wait list process will be implemented and if any vacancies arise we will reach out to parents who have placed their child on the wait list.
We are aware that the cost of this camp is a large outlay for your student. The school will work with families to organise payment plans where necessary.
Year 5 Leadership Camp
In Year 5 students are invited to participate in the Year 5 Leadership Camp. The Year 5 Leadership Camp is a 3 day, 2 night camp specifically designed to provide students with opportunities outside their comfort zone.
The leadership camp program has been designed to teach students more about themselves as well as how to work with and communicate with others around them. It puts them in challenging activities in order to help them learn how to handle different situations and work with their peers to overcome obstacles in life.
Approximate costs for the Year 5 camp is $300 and a deposit will be required to confirm your students place on the camp.
